Slater Gets A Medal After Four Trail

As soon as Dan Slater crossed the finish line of the World Masters Games, final race, someone shouted out that Slater had picked up a Games medal finally. He got this medal after the fourth time of trying.


Slater has a tight battle with Matt Blakey over 10 races within the apprentice masters of the Laser fleet. The pair was separated by only two points going into the final day of the tournament and that was how Salter finished as they crossed each other within one position in both the races.

To qualify the event, Slater lost 7kgs, on which he explained, during the weight loss period, he eats like a Finn sailor and did not do exercise. He said all the efforts brought the results as one can see here.

He said, “It was a great fun, I enjoyed being back racing and that too in a big fleet like this. As far as the dieting is concerned, then it is just good for my health.”   Continue reading Slater Gets A Medal After Four Trail

Key West Race Week 2017

The Key West race week that is lined up for 2017 has entries coming in now.


There are about 6 categories decided and 40 boats which are lined up to compete in the Quantum Key West Race Week in 2017. Among the different classes decided for the event the J/111s would be a prominent class that will feature in this race week that is scheduled in 2017 at Key West.

There is a discount period offered for first entries that will end by the first of October. After this the entry fees will increase. This would be the 30th event which has 44 boats lined up. Phuket a top selection for the very first Thailand yacht show

Phuket has been called as a popular selection for launch of a Thailand Yacht Show, to be arranged by Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Tourism and Sports. The place for the new yacht event, programmed for this year’s end has been narrowed down to Pattaya and Phuket, said Deputy Minister of Transport Akom Termpittayapisit to the National News Bureau of Thailand.

This would give soe exposure for yacht makers same to what car makers are handed during Motor Expo, explained Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha. Yacht makers could exhibit their luxurious, new models at the program, and this would serve help to promote yacht tourism in Thailand, added he.

MOTS Phuket office’s deputy director Ratchadaporn Pattana told the Phuket Gazette this morning that he believes that Phuket is all set for this. Located on the Andaman coast, they have suitable marinas for this kind of event. If Phuket is selected as a place for yacht show, this would be more than helpful to the province, as it keeps itself to be an important port of call for yachts across the area. He told that along with this, they would attract more and more quality travelers, who would have higher per-capita expenditure in Phuket. Sir Robert Knox Johnston Gets The Third Place In A Transatlantic Solo Race

Sir Robin Knox Johnston finished third in Route du Rhume transatlantic race on 22nd November. Sir Johnston’s current age is 75 and he is the oldest competitor in the race that spanned over three thousand miles.

Sir Johnston became the first to sail around the world solo without stopping 45 years ago. He currently has five grandsons. The race started from France and ended at Caribbean. Sir Johnston said that he felt euphoric after getting the third place in the race. Sir Johnston sailed in the race in his Grey Power Open 60 Yacht. Sir Johnston is the founder of Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. He finished the race on Saturday after being at sea for more than twenty days.
